Bonus Projects

I just posted my YoCP January Project...a massive list, calendaring all of my home-related projects for the year. Oof. It's gonna be an exciting year!

I kicked things off today with a few teensy tiny projects, just to feel like I'd done a little something visible in the house. I was inspired by Jolie posting her list and the bonus projects she's already done. So yeah - two little things done!

First up, hanging a mirror on the door of the
guest room closet. I've had the mirror for years
(it used to be the only full-length mirror in the
house), but never figured out where to put it.
A couple of velcro Command strips later,
BOOM. MIRROR.
I also hung this cute little clock that my
mother-in-law got me for Christmas.
It's plastic, and made for a kitchen, but I
thought it worked better in the bathroom.
I even already had a nail in the right place
on the wall (it looks higher than it is in this
picture). Super easy, and we didn't have a
clock in the bathroom before!
Also, hanging the clock meant cleaning off
the top of the craft cabinet, since it was in a
pile on top of the cabinet :)
Bonus Goal!

So, those are the two bonus achievements of the weekend. I need to grab myself some colored index cards so I can make my fancy hang-it-on-the-wall calendar...kind of like a cleaning advent calendar for the whole year, really.

Have a great week, clean friends.

  2. Thank you! I'm not sure where my mother-in-law bought it, but it's pretty cute :)

Found a kinda similar one on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Square-Retro-Wall-Clock-Turquoise/dp/B0044OX636

But actually, I think it's this one (same brand, but in a different color): http://www.amazon.com/Kikkerland-Retro-Kitchen-Wall-Clock/dp/B006FVBYZI/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1390333821&sr=1-2&keywords=kikkerland+retro+kitchen+wall+clock

  4. You're on my blog right now, Nicole! :) Not sure about blogs where you can post about your high school, but you should check out Rookie Mag and Hello Giggles -- especially Rookie Mag! Those are great for teens.

  6. I don't know what you mean by "this site", because this is the first time you've commented on my blog! I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, as I often write about :)

  10. You can find recipes for those "dirt cup" cakes all over the internet, just search on Google. I think it's usually, like, pudding with oreos crumbled on top and gummy worms sticking out. You should make your friend a chocolate cake, I think.

  12. I read some of the below threads with some degree of concern, and I hope all of that works out for the best for the people involved. I just wanted to say, when I got to the part in your post where it says, "BOOM. MIRROR," all caps, I had to laugh just a little. It reminded me of, like, an NFL highlight film: "BOOM. MIRROR." That juxtaposition of "hard-hitting" and "gentle, home oriented," really brought the mirth. Also, that photo, the one with the clock, is like, really nicely composed. I could look at it a while. The way the clock works with the towel -- mm, priceless. Then again, the clock-face and the wainscot, also well paired. Even if I'd have put the clock a little higher up in the frame, it's still very nice. Seriously.

  13. I've heard that. I have a friend that lives out in San Diego and he says its pretty nice out there. I have always wanted to live there and meet tons of celebs. Have you ever met any?

  15. say Kim can you suggest any herbalists or organic garden types to follow?

  16. I have met some celebs - I grew up in Los Angeles. More celebs there than in San Diego, I think!

  17. Hi Steve, I have no idea. Maybe do a Google search for "herbalist 'powered by disqus'" or "organic garden disqus" to find users to follow.

  18. yes, but WHAT kind? Like, what should I put on it?

  19. Haha, I think people are responding to comments in the Disqus dashboard instead of on the blog, so they're not getting the full context of the conversation.

Glad you liked "BOOM. MIRROR." -- I like saying BOOM when I complete projects. Makes the accomplishment feel more exciting.

  20. like what kind of chocolate?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh, I don't know. I'd say pudding for the main part, or cake mix from a box if you want it to be cake? And crumbled oreos? And maybe those chocolates that look like rocks, and gummi worms?

  22. I love the clock, it'd just look great in my new kitchen (hint hint mother-in-law) but what pray tell are you needing to time in the bathroom? Excess showers, too long book reading whilst on the...... Or some other un-named activity that happens in your porcelain room?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks! It's actually supposed to be a kitchen clock...shhh don't tell! I like it for timing showers and sometimes for brushing teeth, or for knowing what time it is when I'm getting ready for bed (we don't really have a clock in the living room, except the TV). I honestly put it in there because there was nowhere else in the house where the color/style fit well, but I've found myself looking at it more frequently than I expected to!

  24. Good idea about the teeth, wish I'd thought of of that whilst my critters were still bunnies :).
